among the whispering trees
They said the woods were empty, but they lied.
The bark has skin. The canopy breathes in, but it forgot how to breathe out.
She didn’t go there to hide; she went there to see if the blur could finally erase the edges they painted on her.
The static in the soil is louder today. It hums at a frequency that makes the teeth ache.
Step off the path. Let the splinters take your name.
If you look closely enough at the white fabric, you can see where the dress ends and the panic begins.
Don’t look back. There is nothing behind you but a static loop of everything you killed to get here.
curator’s commentary
In this unsettling monochromatic study, the work explores the violent intersection of environmental displacement and psychological rupture. The composition rejects traditional landscape portraiture, instead utilizing aggressive kinetic distortion to transform the forest into an oppressive, claustrophobic grid. A singular, spectral figure in white occupies the center of the frame, captured in a liminal state of erasure. The boundaries of the physical form are systematically compromised, causing the white entity to bleed directly into the surrounding vertical architecture of the woods.
Rather than evoking a passive romanticism, the sweeping directional blur creates a palpable sense of temporal panic, suggesting flight from an unseen trauma or a sudden descent into dissociation. The image operates as a severe visual metaphor for derealization, effectively stripping the viewer of spatial orientation and forcing an encounter with the terrifying fluidity of identity.
